Team Samaritan House is blessed to have wonderful sponsors
that help us accomplish our mission of bringing hope to the homeless in
Colorado and we wanted to take the opportunity for you to hear their stories.
If you find you or someone you know is need of their services, we sincerely
hope that you will reach out to them.
Full disclosure, I’m the author of this blog post and also one
of the Team Samaritan House sponsors and a team member. I also help with the
blog and recruiting sponsors.
Be Self Propelled isn’t a business but rather a passion for
all things cycling. Since I was a kid I’ve loved everything about riding bikes.
I rode my banana seat bike on motorcycle trails before there were mountain
bikes. I enjoy mountain, road and gravel biking, but most importantly, I value
the friendships I’ve made through cycling, With Team Samaritan House, the good
we can do for others while enjoying the sport we love with a group of caring
and compassionate people is simply amazing.
The “Be Self Propelled” blog is the property of my market
research and analytics firm Symphony Marketing (www.symphony-marketing.com) If you’re
in the business of researching customer behaviors and analyzing data you better
understand how a website drives traffic so “Be Self Propelled” is both a
passion and a hands on laboratory to understand how people interact with online
What inspired you to be
a sponsor of Team Samaritan House?
When we started Symphony Marketing, thirteen years ago, we made
it a point of always giving back and we have been involved in many worthy
causes over the years. Through Team Samaritan House I got to see the behind the
scenes work that Catholic Charities is doing to help the homeless get back on
their feet. I realized that raising money for the homeless isn’t an easy job.
People want to look the other way and assume that the homeless created their
own problems, and while some of them did, many just found themselves in situations
after returning from deployment, losing a job or leaving an abusive
relationship that put them on the streets.
Tell us a bit about
your experiences in riding with the team?
I started riding with Team Samaritan House at the beginning of 2017 and I knew after the first training ride what a special group of people they are. If you ride with Team Samaritan House get used to getting lots of warm heartfelt hugs from people that really care about each other and the cause they support. I’ve seen many strong friendships begin with a Team Samaritan House ride. You don’t need to be a super fit rider to have fun with this group and I’ve seen so many riders get stronger and thinner overtime, including myself, I’m 30 pounds lighter than when they first met me! I can honestly say that at age 56, I’m lighter and stronger than any time since graduating college. Help the homeless and get in shape at the same time, you can’t beat it!
Come ride with us at the 2019 Tour of the Moon in September!
